Friends, I am so thankful for a wonderful holiday with a few of my closest friends and family. It was great fun, sitting on the porch sipping lemonade and talking as if we had not seen one another in months. The truth is it has only been a couple of weeks since we were running back and forth between houses. Funny how absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Maggie, SinDe, and Happy were all here for the holidays. Of course their families were here with them. Strange how no matter where you go, as long as your friends are with you it seems like home. I guess this is home although I am having trouble remembering where things are or should be. It will take a little time to feel really comfortable here, not so much like a visitor. Maybe feeling like a visitor is a good thing once in a while.
Needless to say, once I started cleaning up after the weekend that magical feeling of being a visitor somewhere dissipated. I’m feeling as if I am back at home so to speak. The surroundings may be different but the old feelings of being comfortable at the beach are returning.
I had forgotten how rough sailing can be on the body and the hands. Needless to say it was too cool to be on the water. But, we acted like impatient children and set sail. I can tell I’m getting older — I mean really older. I have lost all interest in spending the night on the boat. Used to be that I didn’t mind it a bit. I feel uncomfortable with the idea now.
Maybe I have been reading too many news stories about pirates off the coast of Somalia. But, you know, when I was a kid, my dad always cautioned me about pirates. We were not sailing anywhere near the African continent but even in the Caribbean there is the possibility of mishaps in the dark, or of someone coming aboard while we sleep. That is surely a sign of old age, isn’t it?
Anyway, the holiday was wonderful. We walked along the shore, sailed along the Inland Waterway, stopped by a few islands, ate and drank way too much and had a great time — and we did most of it in our overalls.
Well, I was really happy to see everyone. We did a little work, but mostly we had fun. And, as much as I love being with my friends, I think all of us enjoy our personal time. So, for those who visited, I am so glad you came for a few days. Now, I am going to have a cup of coffee before going to bed. I am tired, but I am thankful.

Hi Maya, sounds wonderful, just discovered your friend SinDe writing about overalls as well ! sounds live an overall wave rolling along the coast !:) one day I must come and join you ! and I have had a wonderful holidays in Denmark in our farmhouse, a very suitable place for an overalls guy ! I know Laury is looking forward to come back to her chatette in France and her overalls after working in Germany with certain dress codes ! As you may know I am also working in opera and I am considering to suggest overalls as a new dress code for modern opera, to make opera a relaxed place as well ! now I stop, have a nice rest ! Niels
