Okay, so here’s the thing. I have heard so much about Reagan Republicans and never quite understood what was meant. Well, I never thought Reaganomics did that much for me so it was a little hard for me to understand all the hoopla about Reagan Republicans and Reagan Democrats.
Now, as I am sitting here waiting for the health care reform bill to come up and watching all the excitement outside the Capitol, I have learned something — perhaps, something fairly important. I have been wrong in my thinking and my assumptions about Reagan Republicans.
I thought the Republicans were modeling or trying to model themselves after Ronald Reagan. I guess I should have asked. But, today I learned that the reference to the Republicans serving us in Congress is not in honor of Ronald Reagan at all. It is in honor of Nancy!
Yep! That’s what I learned today. And, as I watched the votes on several issues I now understand it. They are “Just Say ‘No’” Republicans!
Oh, I am so thankful for learning what a Reagan Republican really is.
