I Am Thankful for Little Oliver

by Maya on July 20, 2009

Well, everyone knows by now that I have a crush on my newest furry friend, Oliver.  Perhaps, it is the chase — so to speak.  Or, perhaps it is only because he was skin and bone when he first appeared.  I can’t help myself.  When I see something or someone who is hungry I think of all the food I have thrown away over the years.  We all have.

Anyway, today I am going to keep this short and sweet.  The picture of the orange cat is Oliver.  And, to be honest I was not as close as it may seem.  I was about 20 feet away from him and standing particularly still.  No, Oliver was not considering me in the picture at the top.

Oliver was pondering a piece of chicken.  In order to entice him, I had put a few bits of chicken out for his dinner.  Apparently, he does not care for the aluminum pan.  And, maybe it was the “snap” sound of the camera that first caused the big “O” to think that his chicken bone was not as safe as he thought.  Whatever it was, the total uncropped picture shows Oliver either stalking the chicken remains or maybe thinking the chicken remains are stalking him.

I was kind.  I had snapped enough shots of the boy for one day.  These were the first pictures I could get of Oliver.  Usually, he sees me with the camera and darts off to a hiding place.

So, today I am really thankful that Oliver didn’t dart off into the woods before I could take a few pictures.  And, I am really thankful that the little boy decided it was safe to attack the chicken remains.  He ate it all.
