Well, I will be thankful for a rainbow when I see it. We have had so much rain that I almost went into shock when one of the weather reporters talked about a 4″ rain deficit. I don’t suppose all the rain is just at my house?
Anyway, I was close to complaining about the daily rain. It is getting a little tiresome. When I lived in Colorado, it did rain almost everyday during the summer months. Think I’m crazy? Well, I’m not. Each afternoon around 4:00 pm a dark cloud would cross the mountain and for about five minutes it would rain. Of course, that little bit of rain did little to make anything extra green. In fact, the humidity was so low that one often wondered if there was any H2O in the atmosphere. But, it did sprinkle very, very briefly almost every afternoon.
When I lived in the Lake District in U.K. it rained frequently. One minute there was sunshine. The next it was raining. And, yes! There was humidity. But, usually in the late afternoons a rainbow would appear on the far side of the lake. It was worth waiting for each day.
Now, for here… and now. We keep having rain daily. I’m beginning to wonder if I should gather some timber and clear a space in the backyard to build a boat… a big boat. Of course, we are not up to the full 40 days yet but I’m thinking about counting now.
All joking aside, the rain has been seemingly endless of late. But, with all the rain I have been reminded of my father once again. No matter the situation, no matter how difficult times became my dad always repeated his little saying, “No rain. No rainbows.”
Those few words apply to so much of life. So, today I am thankful for the rain that has reminded me that there will be a rainbow. And, I will be thankful for the rainbow when it appears.
