If you have read my online gratitude journal for any length of time, you are familiar with some of the neighbors. I have shared quite a bit about my best friends. And, today I am thankful for their wisdom and their attitudes.
Not so long ago, my dear friend Maggie about whom I have written, had what some of us would call a major life change. In some ways it worked out really well for me. I am sounding selfish… but her hard times brought us a little closer both physically and emotionally. Once again, it proved that friends are the best things a person can accumulate in life.
I’m not going to share Maggie’s story. She wrote about it today on her blog, Recreating Reality. I am definitely suggesting that everyone read her latest post. I’m not suggesting that you read it to see how much suffering anyone can take in life, but rather to see what a special group of neighbors I have.
Some who have read my gratitude journal have emailed me suggesting that our neighborhood seems special… and that we seem to have the world by the tail, so to speak. Well, our neighborhood is special and if you read Maggie’s latest post you will understand what makes it special. And, you will see that we all have our own struggles with life.
The point is that life is how you look at it. To quote Maggie again, “with every adversity there is a seed of equivalent or greater benefit when looked at with a positive mental attitude.”
Some of our readers think we are old people who are set for life. Well, we are AARP-ers. Set for life? Hardly. Each of us has our own set of ups and downs. But, perhaps what makes us and our neighborhood special is that we are all friends in the truest sense of the word. If you want to feel gratitude today and are having a little trouble finding goodness in your own life, please read Maggie’s blog today. You will feel better. I promise.
